Our
Many Faces...
The
eager faces of children sitting around a Sunday School or VBS
teacher, hearing and telling stories of Faith;
The faces of choir members and handbell
ringers who share their musical talent in worship;
The face of mature adults for whom First
Presbyterian Church is "Family";
The faces of youth, engaged in faith
discovery and mission trips, locally and across the
continent;
The face of one, among many, whom this
congregation is a source of strength and companionship;
The faces of members standing in the rain
at the cemetery discussing the life of a departed family
member and friend;
The face of 'Big Al'' who comes for
Christmas Dinner, for whom this is a safe place and a
significant opportunity to life back on track;
The face of community groups who meet in
our building;
The faces of those who gather to worship,
study, fellowship and serve as fellow pilgrims along the
journey of faith.
These faces are of all shapes and ages, God's
children, with a variety of life and faith experiences. They are
the faces of many who call First Presbyterian Church "Home" and
who worship, work, sing, study, laugh, cry, and celebrate
together. They are your faces and ours.
A Tradition Spanning 170 Years
Drawing on more than 170 years of tradition we're a church that hopes to
always be in transition, developing new perspectives and new
ministries within our congregation and neighborhood as
situations and community needs change.
We're proud of our history of
an
outstanding music and arts program. Drama, liturgical
dance and special music are important to our worship life.
We’re also exploring new ways to translate the Gospel
message into the language of people of all ages.
We're excited about our future and our life today.
