What's Up for Adults at First Presbyterian?

Everyone likes to talk about what they do for the community, and what great children's programs they have. Well, we will, too, but we also think it's important to talk about what we're doing for the adult members and friends of the church.

Our ministries are growing. Here's what's evolved over the past few years. Stay tuned for what's coming along in the future. Better yet, come visit us and see for yourself!

Music at First Presbyterian

Are you musical? Do you sing in the shower? Do you really belt out those hymns on Sunday mornings? Perhaps you enjoy ringing bells or playing the piano. Whatever you do, or whatever you dream of doing, we have a place for you in the Sanctuary Choir or the Juliana Ringers handbell choir.   Tell Me More About Music.

Sunday School

Sunday School starts at 9:15. We offer two classes, a discussion group which meets in the library and ....

The Gathering (6 p.m. most Wednesdays)

Wow. What a great way to rejuvenate during a busy week. The Gathering is a Wednesday evening worship service that includes tons of singing, prayer, discipleship (you know, classes and interesting discussions), and that traditional Presbyterian fellowship that's so famous all over the world. It's an event for the whole family, too. We have classes and events for all ages and child care for our youngest members. Take a couple of hours out of a busy, hectic week and re-center yourself. You'll be glad you did!

All-Church Bluestone Retreat - Fall (usually October)

Ah, Bluestone. If you've been there, you understand why visiting for a weekend is so relaxing, comfortable, renewing. It's like going home again. If you've never been there, what are you waiting for? Members travel to Bluestone for a fall weekend of learning, fellowship, and worship. From games to thoughtful discussions, from fellowship to singing, from worship (outside overlooking the magnificent Bluestone River, we might add) to laughter, it's a weekend not to be missed. Young and old alike return year after year. Why not put it on your "Do Not Miss" list? Information is distributed in late summer.

What's Up for Youth and Children at First Presbyterian?

Sunday School 9:15 a.m. Sundays and 10:30 a.m. Sundays

We offer Sunday School classes for children from age 3 through the Sixth Grade. Sunday School starts at 9:15. Plus, we have a Children's Sunday Education Time that begins just after the Children’s Sermon during the 10:30 worship service, and runs throughout that service. Children learn about many of the usual Bible stories, but also learn about the worship service at First Presbyterian Church.

Nursery (4 and under) 10:30 a.m. Sundays / Special Events and Services

We offer a clean, bright facility complete with cribs, toys, books, toys, rocking chairs, toys -- well, just about anything a child might want! The Nursery is always open during regular Sunday worship services and is generally available during special services and events outside Sundays.

 Discovery Youth 6 p.m. Wednesdays

Discovery Youth for children through elementary school meets at the same time as The Gathering. Children not only socialize, play, and create "things," they also learn about God in a very supportive atmosphere. Visit our Children's Ministries page for more information and activities.

Youth Fellowship 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays

Our youth play hard, work hard, and learn a lot about themselves and God. For Junior High and up. Youth can learn more about themselves while discovering their physical, mental, and spiritual strengths. Visit our Youth Ministries page for more information and activities.
